Following the dynamic kick-off meeting and partner workshop held in Larissa, the InkScape Innovators project is already making waves in the local educational community. Taking the next step toward implementation, EEPEK, the project coordinator, proposed a close collaboration with 4th EPAL Larisa as an associated VET school to host and carry forward key project activities.

A School That Embraces Creativity and Green Skills

The response from the school’s leadership and teaching staff was enthusiastic. Recognizing the potential of InkScape Innovators to enhance students’ creativity, environmental awareness, and digital storytelling abilities, the teachers welcomed the opportunity to collaborate. The first action? A hands-on creative workshop for students, hosted right in their school.

Workshop Highlights: Comics Meet Climate

On the school’s invitation, Thanos Kyratzis, the renowned comic artist and educator who led the initial partner training, returned to Larisa to deliver a full-day workshop tailored for interested students. The session introduced young learners to the art of storytelling, plot development, and comic strip creation, all through the lens of sustainability and green thinking.

Students engaged with the creative process step by step—brainstorming storylines, sketching panels, and learning how to visually communicate complex ideas in a simple yet powerful way. The energy in the room was electric, with students not only absorbing new skills but also forming creative teams to continue their work beyond the workshop.

Next Steps: Student Teams and International Collaboration

Motivated by the workshop, several student teams have already started collaborating with trainers from ComMedi, one of the project partners, to develop their own comics focused on environmental themes. These young innovators are now part of an exciting journey that will lead to digital publications, cross-border dialogue, and participation in transnational events.

InkScape Innovators is not just a project on paper—it’s a living, growing collaboration that is already reshaping how students learn, create, and think about the future.
