  LEGACY

The Legacy Links project (ESC30-SOL-000274816) is officially underway, bringing together passionate young people in Tyrnavos, Greece, to rediscover and preserve the rich cultural heritage of their town. Born from the grassroots initiative ΑΦΗΓΗΜΑ, this 12-month Solidarity project uses creative tools—storytelling, comics, oral history, and digital archiving—to empower local youth as active narrators of their collective memory.

In the first round of workshops, the young participants explored the values of intergenerational dialogue and the basics of oral history collection. With guidance from experienced mentors, they began developing their skills in interviewing, documentation, and storytelling. A special emphasis was placed on inclusivity, ensuring that Roma and immigrant youth could fully engage in the process through multilingual and multimodal methods.

One participant shared: “I never thought I could turn my grandparents’ stories into something that others would read or hear. Now I feel proud and motivated to keep going.”

Legacy Links is not just about preserving the past—it’s about building bridges between generations and strengthening the sense of belonging in Tyrnavos. Stay tuned for more updates as the team prepares participatory maps, a community comic book, and a storytelling website that celebrates the town’s living heritage.
