February brought color, joy, and civic expression to Tyrnavos, as the Democracy Panels team took part in the city’s famous carnival. In collaboration with the Municipality, volunteers from the ΓΡΑΦΕΙΝ team and ComMedi hosted a vibrant two-day comics workshop for students from all local schools. Titled “The Children Draw the Carnival”, the open event transformed the town’s main piazza into a space of imagination and storytelling. Young participants, guided by the team, created lively comic scenes inspired by carnival traditions, daily life, and democratic values. The workshop, held in partnership with local bookshops and the city library, welcomed both residents and visitors, making comics an accessible and joyful tool for expression.

Alongside the carnival celebrations, the team continued promoting the Comics Guide through a dedicated presentation and utilization workshop for educators and young citizens. Interest from schools and cultural institutions continues to grow, reinforcing the guide’s relevance as a tool for creative learning and social awareness. Team meetings this month focused on planning future activism actions, evaluating recent efforts, and preparing for the final exhibition and official presentation of the guide. As the city of Tyrnavos welcomed thousands of visitors during its festive days, the Democracy Panels project added a meaningful layer of participation—one that blends art, education, and active citizenship into the local cultural fabric.
