June marked a creative phase for the Democracy Panels project, where storytelling met civic spirit.

As part of the third month of the Democracy Panels solidarity project, young participants took part in two creative workshops designed to explore democracy through the lens of visual storytelling. Guided by coach Thanos Kyratzis, the sessions focused on collaborative comic creation and non-fiction narrative techniques. Participants explored how comics can become tools for civic dialogue, representation, and connection. The atmosphere was both reflective and energetic, with each exercise inviting active engagement and dialogue on real-life democratic challenges.

Inspired by these sessions, the youth teams began sketching the first pages of the project’s comic guide, titled This Is What Democracy Looks Like. The initial drafts showcase strong visual narratives, addressing topics such as fairness, representation, community voice, and collective responsibility. These early pages capture the imagination and insights of young people who see democracy not as something distant, but as a practice rooted in everyday life. The guide—designed to be shared in schools, libraries, and youth centers—aims to spark civic reflection and action through stories made by youth, for youth.

The Democracy Panels initiative continues to transform imagination into action, giving young voices a vibrant stage to shape their communities.
